Collins takes Newcastle IPO crown

David Collins is the Boylepoker IPO Newcastle champion after beating Darren Knaggs heads-up to take the title after the pair had agreed a deal to share the remaining £1,410 prize-money, with £10 on top for the winner.

With the demise of Marc Foggin in third place, Collins was ahead 2.1m to 1.6m after being the short stack when the final table of 10 was set at the Aspers Casino and fittingly he claimed the IPO Newcastle title and £5,010, with runner-up Knaggs taking home £5,000.

After losing a massive pot against Knaggs, Foggin exited after shoving with K-2 against Collins holding K-Q. The K-6-7 flop saw both players hit top pair but the 10 on the turn and five on the river brought no help for Foggin who took home £4,300, which the players had agreed on when they dealt three-handed, leaving £1,410 for Knaggs and Collins to duel for.

Fourth place went to Michael Richardson (£2,200), who had been out in front as chip leader at the start of the final table. Richardson, on 692,000, led from Dan Patterson (547,000), Foggin (530,000), Paula Wilson (425,000), David Knight (402,000), Hamid Rowshanari (300,000), Connie Jackson (280,000), Knaggs (247,000), Hailong Xiao (126,000) and short-stack Collins on only 86,000.

Dan Patterson departed in fifth after he shoved on the button with A-10 and was called in the big blind by by Foggin with A-K. The board bricked leaving Patterson to go home £1,660 richer for fifth place and Foggin a massive chip leader after knocking out Xiao in the previous hand.

Xiao shoved with K-10 against Foggin's pocket sixes and the 9-5-4 flop, five on the turn and two on the river saw him take home £1,330 for sixth place.

Foggin had also been responsible for Jackson's exit when he snap-called with K-Q after her shove on a 9H-10H-JD flop, Jackson holding K-9. The turn and river offered her no help and she left with £1,100 for seventh place.

Eighth place went to Wilson (£890), with Knight finishing in ninth for £665 and Rawshanaei the first to leave the final table in 10th place for £480.00.
