Gudger rules the roost at WPT500

Eleanor Gudger won her first major live tournament by beating Matthew Noonan heads-up to claim the WPT500 title and a top prize of £140,000 at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham.

The final hand of the tournament saw Noonan shove with A-9 only to find Gudger with A-Q.

After the applause stopped, Gudger was in shock at her first major win. “I’m just over the moon,” she said. “It’s such a huge field, over two thousand players, it’s just incredible.”

Gudger will be back at Dusk Till Dawn to try her chances in the WPT UK main event this week after also picking up a £3,000 seat, in addition to the prize money and WPT500 title.

The WPT500 attracted 2,133 entries to go down as the biggest £500 buy-in event ever organised in Europe, with 50 seats into the WPT UK‬ distributed in the payout.
