Hyper-aggressive Scotsman Ludovic Geilich started 2015 as he means to go on by becoming Grosvenor 25/25 Glasgow champion, walking away with the trophy and an £11,850 boost to his bankroll.

A record-breaking 258 players packed into the Merchant City Glasgow casino from 15-18 January to create a £51,600 prize pool.

And, having eliminated Kieran Woods in sixth place, Geilich found himself on the big stack when the remaining players paused the clock to talk about a potential deal.

Geilich wanted at least £12,500 of the original £14,750 top prize to even think about chopping but after much deliberation agreed to take the trophy and £11,850, leaving his five opponents with £6,300 each.

Geilich is one of four 25/25 champions to be crowned so far this year. In Walsall, over the same weekend, Neil Cartwright scooped first place after a three-way deal had been agreed with Mazalahedwa Bako and Ioannis Liperis.

Cartwright walked away with £6,200, Bako with £5,000 as runner-up and Liperis also collecting £5,000 for third.

A week earlier in Leeds it was Ian Tweedie who claimed the title after an earlier deal had seen Graham Ablett bagging the lion's share of the loot.

And the fourth title-winner was Gavin Manley, who won in Portsmouth over the same weekend as Tweedie.
