Sam gets his mitts on UKIPT title

Sam Mitten-Laurence took the UKIPT Nottingham main event at Dusk Till Dawn from 12-20 April, running up a £160 satellite seat into a £182,200 payday after topping a massive 1,036 runner-field.

The 24-year-old's achievement was all the more impressive given that this was only his second live tournament appearance!

After working his way through a final table that included Kuljinder Sidhu, Krzysztof Jacyk, Patrick Clarke and Richard Jones just Trevor Pearson stood in the way of Mitten-Laurence and a first major title.

Last year's third-place finisher couldn't overturn a three-to-one chip deficit and finally hit the rail when his A-J couldn't crack Mitten-Laurence's A-K.

"I've really enjoyed the whole week, especially since it's been so long since my last live tournament," Mitten-Laurence told the PokerStars blog. "It's been a great experience. I definitely plan on playing more UKIPT events, and I'll probably travel for some EPTs too."
