Wheeler wins in Leicester, Higgins in Bolton

The Grosvenor 25/25 Series was back from 4-7 June with John Higgins scooping the loot in Bolton and Kevin Wheeler the force to be reckoned with in Leicester.

An impressive field of 223 entrants in Bolton created a £44,600 prize fund, with Higgins emerging £12,395 richer after topping a final table that included Howard Jones, George Hilton and Martin Smith.

Higgins sealed victory after a short-lived heads-up clash with Mark Dyson, his straight beating Dyson's two-pair.

With stiff opposition in the shape of the DTD Deepstack, the Leicester event managed a respectable 133 entries over the three starting flights to produce a prize pool of £26,600.

The man who came out on top was local player Wheeler, after another extremely quick heads-up contest, when his K-10 overcame Zhang Ji-ye's A-4 to give him the title and a first prize of £8,110.
