Priddis successfully defends high-roller title

It was the final table of the 10th UK Student Poker Championships high-roller event at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 10 April 2014 and for the second year running Simon Priddis (Southampton) took the title.

With three players remaining Priddis, Sam Wain (Glasgow) and Jack Averty (Aberystwyth) agreed an ICM chop with Wain pocketing £3,477, Avery £2,765 and Priddis £3,228, with £1,000 and a tournament seat left over for the eventual winner.

Aberystwyth-man Avery was the first out when his KQ was called by Priddis with A7, which held to leave the defending champion heads-up against Glasgow's Wain.

With Wain holding roughly 700k in chips to Priddis' 2.3m the heads-up battle was not a long affair, Priddis taking the title when his AK held up against Wain's A8.

Today it's day 1C of the main event at the Ricoh, with play starting at 1pm.
