White’s night in the Aberdeen 25/25

Andrew White took down the £200+£20 Aberdeen leg of the Grosvenor 25/25 Series from 16-18 May 2014.

The 187 entries over three opening flights created a £37,400 prize pool, with £10,850 going the way of champion White.

White overcame Grant Cooper heads-up after check-raising his opponent's river bet of 260k to 760k on a QD-9D-6C-3C-KS board. After a long tank Cooper shoved all-in over the top to give White some serious thinking to do.

He eventually made the call with Cooper announcing "seven high"... White having hit the king on the river for top pair.

Cooper pocketed £7,110 as runner-up, with £4,450 going to third-place finisher Stuart Wilson who shoved his 687k from the button with pocket 10s only for White to hit two pair after calling with K-Q.

Craig Smith exited in fourth for £2,920 after shoving on the river only to find himself behind Cooper's second pair.

Martin Dines finished fifth after opening under the gun for 125k, about 40 per cent of his stack. Wilson made it 325k to set Dines all-in when he made the call with A-K, but Wilson's pocket sevens held and Dines exited £2,020 better off.

Les Clark went out in sixth for £1,460 when his A-9 was dominated by White's A-Q and seventh place went to James Gray, another White victim, who pocketed £1,190.

Andrew Hutcheon finished in eighth place after shoving for about 250k with pocket queens after Gray had opened for 50k and Cooper had three-bet to 132k. Gray folded but Cooper called with pocket sixes, which turned into a set to send Hutcheon to the rail £1,010 better off.

First out on the final table was Boaby Jardine for £860 when he got his last 116k in with K-6 which proved no match for Cooper's pocket fives.
