IPO London title goes to Ramkeesoon

Day 1A chip leader Eric Ramkeesoon has taken down the IPO London for the biggest win of his poker career, a healthy €12,108.

Ramkeesoon went into heads-up play at the Aspers Casino in Stratford, London, a 4.2-1.8 underdog after Aziz Kara sent Gavin Markham to the rail in third place for €5,231, but it was Ilford security officer Ramkeesoon who shortly afterwards took the title.

Ramkeesoon bagged 195,400 chips for day two on Sunday, 13 April 2014, after leading the chip counts after Thursday's day 1A, while Kara had accumulated 177,000 on day 1C.

Kevin Neal on a stack of 226,100 led the field at the start of play on Sunday, with Kenny King second on 207,400 and Joost Creutzberg in third place on 196,900. They were followed by day 1c chip leader Patrick Collins on 196,900, Ramkeesoon and Michael Wright (192,600).

With 67 players returning for day two and 27 getting paid, King and Creutzberg used their sizeable stacks profitably to reach the final table along with Ramkeesoon and Kara, while Neal busted out in 13th place for €684. Collins and Wright were not so fortunate, both failing to make the cash.

Belfast's Stephen Andrews, Dublin accountant Brian Ryan, Oliver Kirschner from London, and Essex builder Jaime Holt were the others to make it to the final table.
